MMA

What Is MMA?

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) combines multiple martial arts disciplines into one integrated system.

Training includes elements of:

  • striking
  • kickboxing
  • wrestling
  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
  • clinch fighting
  • takedowns
  • ground control and submissions

Rather than treating each range separately, MMA focuses on transitioning effectively between standing, clinch, and ground situations.

Training develops:

  • fitness and conditioning
  • timing and coordination
  • composure under pressure
  • problem solving
  • confidence
  • practical martial arts skills

Tactical MMA (TMMA)

Our MMA program draws heavily from the Tactical MMA (TMMA) system created by Richard Norton and Jeremy Takody.

TMMA was developed to bridge the gap between traditional martial arts, combat sports, and practical application by integrating striking, grappling, movement, and tactical awareness into a complete training system.

This influence can be seen throughout our approach to:

  • movement and positioning
  • striking integration
  • clinch work
  • takedowns
  • self-defence concepts
  • transitional MMA training

Students learn not only individual techniques, but how to connect skills together effectively under pressure.

Integrated Martial Arts Training Built For Real Application

At Saxon Combat Academy, our MMA program combines striking, grappling, clinch work, takedowns, and positional control into a complete mixed martial arts system focused on practical application and long-term development.

Classes are designed for students wanting to develop a well-rounded martial arts skillset through structured coaching and live training in a supportive, no ego environment.

Our MMA program is closely linked to the Tactical MMA (TMMA) system developed by Richard Norton and Jeremy Takody, blending traditional martial arts concepts with modern MMA, self-defence, and combat sports principles.
